Introduction about brand new service from OTAM

This is the Open Tour Around Mongolia (OTAM). OTAM is new tourist service which will give you THE cheapest opportunity to explore this vast and beautiful country: The home land of the Great Emperor Chinggis Khaan.

Mongolia is a developing country. Therefore, infrastructure is not fully developed yet and the biggest problem for travelers is transport service.

The options that travelers have now are;

1st - hire a jeep. The most common option for people visiting Mongolia.
      But with this option, you have to pay more.
2nd - join others. You have to travel with a group of stranger
      But don't you think you need privacy? In addition you have no idea who is the others
      and you have to be with them for some time.
3rd - take a long distance local bus. It is cheap.
       Again there is a BUT. This option is uncomfortable and not very safe.So, here is the new great opportunity to solve this problem. OTAM.

What do we offer?

Our company runs minivans around Mongolia. It is very simple and easy:
1) come to our office and buy a ticket;
2) ride with us to the chosen destination;
3) Our minivans runs to following major tourist destination in Mongolia.

I. Minivans will leave UB at 8.00 am Every Monday to the Gobi destination.

II. Minivans will leave UB at 8.00 am Every Tuesday to the Khuvsgul Lake destination.

III. Minivan will leave UB at 8.00 am Everyday to National Parks Tour around UB

About the road the roads are tough, especially in bad weather because they are mostly dirt.
Our drivers are experienced they know the road. The vehicles are checked before every departure to make sure that they are in good shape to make it through the long journey.

We have minivans driving to the following main destinations:

1. Gobi destination (Central and southern Mongolia)
          The price is 230 US$ per person            Tax 20$
2. Khuvsgul Lake destination (Northern and Central Mongolia)
         The price is 230 US$ per person            Tax 20$
3. National Parks Around Ulaanbaatar destination
          The price is 70 US$

Tax 10$Service included: Guiding and interpreting service +, Renting transport + driver with petrol.

Places to stay:
We have some fixed stops and in those areas you can make horse riding, camel riding, yak riding, hiking, trekking, fishing and so on.
During the trip you can stay in a nomad family Ger (Mongolia traditional dwelling) or local guest house which OTAM has arranged. The families will charge 4500-6000 tugrug equal to 4-5 dollars/ for bed and breakfast. In those families you can eat cheap also.
OTAM arranged several nomad family Gers so that you can experience the daily life of nomad people. This is an idea to support the nomads to have some income also it will be not very touristy so you will be able to be with them sometime to get more idea about the life style.
When you are in Mongolian country you can simply go to a Ger /Mongolian style round shaped white tent/ of a local family and make a friend with them. If you want you can make a friend with them easily. They are so hospitable that they will invite you with tea and even if you ask for a meal they will cook for you.
If you are counting on this option please buy some gifts. /candies, chocolate, matches, candle and so on.
Other options.
       1. Tent: -You can bring your own tent, if so you should to pay 1 dollar for locals.
                     -Rent a tent from our office. Contact us in advance.
                                                                                            Rates: US$3 for rent per day.
     2. Tourist camps: Rates around 25-35 US$ per person including three meals or
                                                                                            10-15 US $ without meal.

What you should and shouldn't do when you travel with OTAM.
Very important please do read followings.
1. Come to our office to buy a tour package. We will provide you with tour package.
If you want to be picked up on the leaving date, when you buy a ticket please leave your hotel, guest house or address where you staying. The address must be very clear as it is hard to find buildings in UB. Pick up service is free of charge.
Also before leaving UB you can rent or buy necessary things from our office. /tent, mattress, sleeping bag, fishing equipments, etc / you’d better arrange them earlier with the office staff.
2. Come to the office building on the travel date at shown time on your tour package. The minivans will leave from the building ALYASKA front parking lot.
3. Better have your breakfast before coming. Remember we do not provide any food.
At 10.00 o'clock we will stop for snack break for 30 minutes. We will stop for lunch at local restaurant along the OTAM ways.
For vegetarians better carry something to eat with you and buy more in a bigger town.
If you eat earlier we apologize for your inconvenience but you have to eat in the van.
When the minivan passes by a town or a place where you can make a grocery shopping the driver and guide will take you to the bigger once in the area. There you should buy necessary things for you.
4. Please does not trash in the country put all the garbage in the provided plastic bags.
5. Next day you have to get up earlier, have a breakfast and be ready to leave at 8.00 in the morning. It's better for you all to leave earlier because during the day it's too hot in summer especially in the Gobi.
